The San Diego Aerospace Museum is located in picturesque Balboa Park, within easy access from all major freeways. It is among the riches cultural and recreational assets of the City of San Diego.
$100.00 per hour for utilities, maintenance, equipment;
plus
$5.00 per person general admission (Note: 100 Minimum);
plus
$12.00 per hour guard for security guard coverage (3 hour minimum).
Security guards are required for all evening events at the museum. The number of guards will depend on the size of the event and other specific information. The guard(s) will arrive fifteen minutes before the event and will remain until the caterer has left and the building is decured. We subcontract the work with a qualified security firm and these charges will appear on your final invoice.
Docents (tour guides) volunteer their time and services to make your event a special one. We will arrange a sufficient number of docents to be on hand for your evening; a museum tour will be tailored to suit your group's needs. There is no additional charge for this service; however, we do request that you make the docents welcome at your food and beverage tables.
The caterer you select will guarantee the success of your event. A good caterer will do everything for you, from the initial party planning through the last-minute details. Please contact us for a list of caterers who have experience working in our facility. They are familiar with the museum's layout, rules and regulations. Although we do not insist you choose one of these caterers, we recommend that you consider them in your selection. If you choose a caterer that is not on this list, we require that a representative from the catering company meet with us before the final approval for the event is given.
There are no kitchen facilities on the premises. All food must be prepared in advance and brought ready-to-serve. Caterers may park their mobile kitchens in the rear of the museum while preparing for your event. Because the entire collection was lost in 1978 due to a tragic arson fire, no cooking is allowed in the museum proper. The security of the collection is our first and foremost concern.
A liquor license is required before alcoholic beverages may be served on the premises. If your caterer does not have one, or if you prefer to handle your own bar, we will write a letter for you to enclose with your application to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. In the past, licenses for special event functions have been received without difficulty.
