San Diego Aerospace Museum

SCHOLASTIC RECOGNITION

One of the missions of the Museum is to inspire young people to seek careers in aerospace-related endeavors. One of the ways we do this is through recognition of student achievement.

BILL GIBBS ENDOWMENT FUND SCHOLARSHIP

Each year, the Museum awards college scholarships through an endowment founded by Bill Gibbs, a long-time San Diego aviation personality. Eligibility is limited to students with an aerospace career interest who have been accepted to a four-year college or university in a degree program relating to math, physics, science, or engineering

SCIENCE FAIR AWARDS

The Museum participates in the annual Greater San Diego Science & Engineering Fair by judging aerospace-related projects in both the Junior and Senior Divisions. Entrants must indicate that they desire their project to be evaluated by the Museum. Winners are recognized and awarded prizes while attending a meeting of the Museum's Board of Directors.

ESSAY CONTEST

Every spring, the Museum joins with other Balboa Park organizations in sponsoring an essay contest for all school grades. Prizes include free summer school classes, museum memberships, and museum store gift certificates. For details, look for the Balboa Park Summer Learning Guide to be distributed to schools in March 1997 or check updated information on this page.
